What PRP is—and why protocols vary
Platelet-rich plasma is made by drawing blood and using centrifugation or another system to separate a platelet-containing fraction. The final platelet concentration, white-cell content, activation, volume and injection depth vary between systems. “PRP” is not one standard product even though it is autologous.
Systematic reviews report potential improvement in selected alopecia outcomes, but studies use different preparation, schedules, comparators and measurements. What an exosome product may be
Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles involved in cell communication. Regulatory language must be country-specific
The US Food and Drug Administration states that there are no FDA-approved exosome products. That is relevant when a clinic cites “FDA approval,” but it does not automatically determine whether a product is lawfully registered or supplied in Pakistan. Pakistani status must be checked through the appropriate local product and clinical-regulatory pathway.
Ask for the exact product—not a photograph of a generic vial—and request manufacturer, source material, batch number, storage, sterility testing, indication and current local status. “Imported,” “medical grade” and “Korean” are not regulatory categories or evidence of effectiveness.
Who may reasonably discuss PRP?
A patient with a defined non-scarring hair-loss condition, viable miniaturising follicles and realistic expectations may discuss PRP as one part of a plan. It cannot create new donor supply in a smooth bald area and does not replace transplantation when follicle redistribution is the agreed goal.

Seek prompt review for increasing pain, hot spreading redness, pus, fever, marked facial swelling, severe headache, rash or unexpected neurological symptoms. Difficulty breathing, collapse or a severe allergic reaction requires emergency care. Do not treat a suspected infection with leftover medicine.
How should improvement be measured?
Agree on the target before treatment: reduced shedding, standardised hair counts, calibre, photographs or patient-reported coverage. Photographs should use consistent lighting, angle, hair length and styling. Wet versus dry hair or fibres can create dramatic but invalid comparisons.
Define the review interval, expected range, minimum meaningful change and when to stop. Maintenance claims should follow evidence and response, not a lifetime subscription model. Progression of the underlying condition must be separated from the injection’s effect.
Cost and package questions
